Colorado Avalanche Forward Tomas Fleischmann Done For the Season

Just as the Avalanche started to get some bodies back in the line-up, another one bites the dust.

Thomas Fleischmann, who's been a godsend with 21 points in 22 games since his acquisition from the Washington Capitals, will miss the rest of the season with due to a freakish blood clot.

The injury is very unfortunate for Fleischmann, who seemed to find a prominent scoring role with the Avalanche. He's an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, and while it seems likely the Avalanche will offer him a contract, there's alot of season left for someone to step him and supplant him.

And from an Avalanche perspective, they need that to happen in the short term. Fleischmann had been a player that jelled with Matt Duchene better than anyone in Duchene's short career, and his loss is going to be a huge hole to fill for the rest of the season.
