Claude Giroux Injury: Updates on Flyers Star’s Upper Body and Return

The Philadelphia Flyers' disappointing season has hit another speed bump, as star center Claude Giroux is out with an upper-body injury. It is uncertain when he will return to action.

Giroux Out vs. Wild Wednesday, Feb. 24 Flyers general manager Ron Hextall said Giroux will not be available against the Minnesota on Thursday, per John Boruk of CSN.


Giroux Is Irreplaceable Talent for Flyers  Giroux has been one of the NHL's most durable players over the last six seasons, including in the first 57 games this year, missing a total of just six games since the 2009-10 season. One of those absences in 2012 was due to a suspension. 

The Flyers are not a high-scoring team. They currently rank 25th in goals per game, so losing their leading scorer (49 points) will make things even more difficult. Giroux ranks second on the team in assists (33) and third in goals (16).
