Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux will be spending a large portion of his offseason recovering from a hip and abdominal injury.

Giroux To Undergo Surgery

Flyers general manager Ron Hextall announced that Giroux, along with teammate Shayne Gostisbehere, will have surgery on May 17 to repair his right hip and a bilateral lower abdominal tear.
Giroux is expected to be able to get back to full hockey activity in 10-12 weeks, which would be toward the end of July or the beginning of August.
The Flyers captain led the team with 67 points and 45 assists to go along with 22 goals this season. His performance and leadership was a big reason why Philadelphia was able to turn around a 4-6-3 start under head coach Dave Hakstol and finish the season at 41-27-14 with 96 points.
It was good enough for them to earn the final Eastern Conference playoff spot before being bounced in six games by the Presidents' Trophy-winning Washington Capitals.
