Chris Pronger May Not Be Ready for Philadelphia Flyers Training Camp

Chris Pronger had minor knee surgery on July 27.  The surgery involved having "loose bodies" removed from his right knee.  The surgery was performed by Dr. Peter DeLuca at an outpatient facility in Vorhees, New Jersey.

On August 3, Flyers GM Paul Holmgren stated, "He will be ready for the start of training camp." 

On Tuesday, Pronger was asked by the Flyers public relations staff if he would be 100 percent ready for camp and he bluntly stated, "No. I can tell you that much. It is going to take a lot of hard work to build the leg muscles back up."

Pronger was then asked if he would be ready for the season opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 7. He replied, "I hope to be in the lineup...but it is still very early on in the process to begin guessing a time frame."

He said that the injury took place in Game 1 of the conference semifinals against the Boston Bruins, and admitted that the injury did impact his play during the playoffs.

"It was a little tighter, I didn't quite have the range of motion."
