Chicago Blackhawks: Who’s It Gonna Be? ‘Hawks Playoff Opponent Up for Grabs

The Chicago Blackhawks had to wait until the last night of the regular season last spring to know if they were playoff bound or not. This time around, the spot is assured, but it may be early Sunday morning before we know who the 'Hawks draw in the first round.

Going into this afternoon's tilt in Detroit, Chicago could be securing a date with the Nashville Predators. Beating the Red Wings in regulation makes it pretty cut and dried. The Blackhawks would come back to Chicago and pack their bags for Music City.

If Chicago needs overtime to beat Detroit, or if the Red Winds come out on top, there may be a bit of a waiting game to play. Supposing the Blackhawks remain the sixth seed, a trio of potential opponents are still on the table.

The Pacific Division is going to come down to the last day, which means that Phoenix, Los Angeles or San Jose could all be the Hawks' destination next week when the Stanley Cup Playoffs get underway.

The Coyotes currently are on top of the scramble, but circumstances could change quickly.
