Heading into the third period of today's matchup, the Chicago Blackhawks held a firm 2-0 lead over the Detroit Red Wings.

Johan Franzen scored his 29th goal of the season eight minutes into the third to cut the Blackhawks lead in half. Then, with less than a minute remaining and the Detroit net vacated, Pavel Datsyuk camped out in front of the net and buried a Tomas Holmstrom pass to tie the game.

Datsyuk's 19th tally of the year sent the game into overtime, in which both teams were scoreless, resulting in a shootout.

That's when Kane, the second shooter, dazzled with this beauty by completely turning Howard inside out.

Kane, known for his silky-smooth hands, was the only scorer in the shootout and the Blackhawks went on to win, 3-2.

With the win, the Blackhawks cemented themselves as the sixth seed in the Western Conference and will play the winner of the Pacific Division, which will not be decided until later Saturday evening.

If the Blackhawks had won in regulation, they could have earned a berth as the fifth seed.
