When the Chicago Blackhawks traded away Dustin Byfuglien, Brent Sopel, and Ben Eager to the Atlanta Thrashers, the key player the 'Hawks received in exchange for that group was Thrashers former second round pick Jeremy Morin.
Coming off of a terrific first year of junior, where he compiled 83 points in 58 games, Morin has continued his impressive work this offseason with a strong Blackhawks prospect camp and now a strong USA world juniors camp.
Yesterday, in the United States/Finland game, Morin was seen as the standout of the game as he collected a goal and assist in the United States' 6-3 win over the Fins.
Morin looks to be a lock to make the U.S. squad for the World Junior Championship because of his experience with the squad last year and his strong showing at the evaluation camp.
So what does his strong offseason showings mean for the Blackhawks?
What it likely shows is that they have a top six forward in the making with Morin, and that he might be closer to making this team than was previously thought.
