Carolina Hurricanes Score Bizarre Goal on Deflected Shot Against Dallas Stars

April 3rd, 2014 by Kyle Newport Leave a reply »

When the puck gets deflected high into the air, the goaltender has very little chance to make a save.

That happened to be the case during Thursday night's game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Dallas Stars.

The Hurricanes' John-Michael Liles sent the puck toward the net in the second period of a scoreless game, but the puck hit teammate Eric Staal's skate and managed to get up into the air. Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen had no idea where the puck was.

By the time many of the players found the puck, it was already in the back of the net. It wasn't planned that way, but the Hurricanes will take it.
