Carey Price Becomes Crucial as Canadiens Trade Jaroslav Halak

On Thursday, Montreal Canadiens’ General Manager, Pierre Gauthier made a big move when he trade goaltender Jaroslav Halak. Here is the trade made:

To Montreal Canadiens

Lars Eller (C) Ian Schultz (RW) To St. Louis Blues

Jaroslav Halak (G) Jaroslav Halak had a tremendous postseason this year when he led the Montreal Canadiens through a fairytale run to the Eastern Conference Final. Halak’s stock truly went up when that wrapped up. Many considered his value very high—much higher than the value of two prospects.

High pressure will now be on Carey Price, who will take over the starting goalie job for the Montreal Canadiens. He will have to do a lot to make them forget about the magical run they had with Halak and will have to demonstrate some serious goaltending ability of his own to reassure Montreal fans that Pierre Gauthier made the right choice in sticking with him.

In my opinion, it should have been Price leaving town.
