Penguins 4, Capitals 3—Final (OT)
Despite surrendering a 3-0 lead, the Pittsburgh Penguins eliminated the Washington Capitals in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals matchup Tuesday night.
Pittsburgh jumped ahead thanks to two goals from Phil Kessel and a tally by Carl Hagelin. However, T.J. Oshie, Justin Williams and John Carlson helped Washington even the score and force overtime.
But at the 6:32 mark of the extra period, Nick Bonino provided the game-winning, series-ending goal. Matt Murray made 36 saves and improved to 7-2 in the postseason.
The Penguins will challenge the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final.
