Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin played in his 1,000th NHL regular-season game on Wednesday, a 3-2 shootout win over the Winnipeg Jets in which Sedin did not record a point in 24:02 worth of ice time.
In the process, he became the 287th skater (forward or defenseman) in league history to reach the milestone. Meanwhile, only two NHL goalies—Martin Brodeur and Patrick Roy—have topped the mark.
Sedin also became just the second player in Canucks franchise history to reach the 1,000-game plateau. Trevor Linden is currently atop the team's all-time leaderboard, with 1,140 games played in a Vancouver jersey to his credit.
Drafted third overall by the Canucks in the 1999 NHL entry draft, the 33-year-old Sedin has spent his entire career with the team and is the franchise leader in both career assists (641) and points (833).
Sedin's twin bother, Daniel—who was drafted second overall in 1999—has also played his whole career with Vancouver, and he is just 31 contests shy of the 1,000-game plateau, putting him on track to reach that milestone during the 2014-15 season.
