Cam Talbot to Oilers: Latest Trade Details, Comments, Reaction

The New York Rangers found a deal they liked for goalie Cam Talbot, shipping the 27-year-old to the Edmonton Oilers for three draft picks. 

TSN's Bob McKenzie first reported the deal:



The Rangers officially announced the move Saturday, noting they were receiving the 57th, 79th and 184th picks and sending Edmonton Talbot and pick No. 209.

"I was excited to come to a team that has so much potential and upside right now," Talbot said when asked how he felt about the trade, per Chris Wescott of EdmontonOilers.com.

According to TSN's Ryan Rishaug, the Rangers wound up settling for a deal for far less than what they were originally seeking:



Talbot emerged as one of the most likely trade candidates during draft weekend, as Larry Brooks of the New York Post reported Thursday that Rangers general manager Glen Sather gave other teams permission to speak with the goalie's agent. 

Moving to Edmonton, which can let unrestricted free agent Viktor Fasth go, will allow Talbot an opportunity to play regularly, which he didn't have with Henrik Lundqvist in New York ...
