California Dreaming: Dallas Stars Conquer Shootout and San Jose Sharks

Random Note : It really angers me when I have to resort to an outdated photo. Getty Images mega lets me down with a lack of updated hockey photos. At least the photo fits the game from Thursday night.

The Stars and Sharks matchup in San Jose on Thursday night was a dream come true, and delivered a real battle, not just on the scoreboard, stats sheet, or in highlights, it was a real, old school throwback to the style of hockey that started the rivalry back in the '90s and moreover it had the look of playoff hockey.

Additionally, good news leaving the game was that Dallas actually won in the shootout. I'll allow you a moment to re-read that previous line, because you didn't read it wrong.

The real big news of the game didn't happen until the third period, which found Dallas down 2-1 with about half the game left. I wasn't disappointed, as always when I got up and turned my back from the game Mike Modano scored the tying goal.
