Calgary Flames Struggle: Current Slump Highlights Scoring Weaknesses

The Calgary Flames are well known for their strong defensive play and All-Star goalie Miikka Kiprusoff.

However, during their recent slump, that hasn't been enough. The biggest problem for the team right now is scoring goals, something that the coaching staff knows all too well.

The flames have lost three of their last four games and they have only scored eight goals. They are losing a lot of close games even though the defense (mainly Kiprusoff) has been keeping them in it until the final buzzer.

love the Calgary defense, but they still need more scoring. That's been one of the problems they've been having the entire season. Even though they have one of the best defenses in the NHL, they are still 12th in the NHL for goals scored per game.

While that's definitely going to be enough to make the playoffs, they're not going to get past the first or second round with these kinds of numbers.

Jarome Iginla knows this as well. He has been the leader of the Calgary offense for a long time now, and he has said that they're not producing enough. It looks like he expects more out of himself and his teammates.
