On Monday morning the Columbus Blue Jackets agreed to a two-year contract extension with former Calder Trophy-winner Steve Mason. The Goaltender's deal is reportedly worth $5.8M, with $2.6 and $3.2M annual salaries; the cap number will be $2.9M.

Mason, 22, suffered from a sophomore slump in 2009-'10 after winning top rookie honors, posting a .901 save percentage and a 3.06 goals against average. The gamble for the Jackets is that Mason can, and will return to his rookie season form, giving them a better chance of competing in a top-heavy Central Division that includes the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks and the ever-formidable Detroit Red Wings.
