Breaking News: Jarome Iginla Won’t Be Traded!

First off, this title is meant to be a little ironic. It is not "breaking news" that Iginla will not be traded, though there have been rustlings of a deal being made this year.

But really, Iginla was never going to be traded this offseason.

Flames President Ken King has recently come out and said that Daryl Sutter will remain GM (though assistants will be brought in), and that Iginla will remain a Flame.

Also, there was an article posted on TSN a few weeks ago with the title "Breaking News: Evgeni Malkin Won't be Traded." Might as well print "Breaking News: Peyton Manning is good" or "Breaking News: Pronger Is Agitating."

There were also a few articles here on Bleacher Report that said Iginla should be traded. With Calgary's lack of offense, this did not make much sense. Not to take away from the idea of trading Iggy, most said that the Flames are far from a cup and need to trade him for prospects (which makes some sense), but I am against that.

I think that the organization needs to give this team one more year, maybe two before looking at the possibility of blowing up the roster. Tweak the team this offseason, and depend ...
