Breaking Down Best Possible Combinations for the Philadelphia Flyers’ Top Line

The Philadelphia Flyers have one of the younger and more talented groups of forwards in the league, so it can be difficult to find the best line combinations with a crowded roster.

The Flyers have particularly made some major changes over the past couple years with their top line. 

Two seasons ago, Claude Giroux had a breakout year and cemented himself as the team's first-line center for a long, long time.

Then this past season, the Flyers replaced Jaromir Jagr with Jakub Voracek, who had a breakout year of his own. The right winger was arguably the Flyers' best player in the lockout-shortened season, registering 46 points in 48 games.

With the center and right wing positions locked up on the first line, the focus shifts entirely to the left side, and that is where some questions emerge.

Scott Hartnell is technically the incumbent, and there are plenty of reasons to think he could be serviceable again in that role.

He scored a career-high 39 goals two seasons ago in the midst of Giroux's breakout year. They developed a solid chemistry that seemed promising.
