Brandon Saad to Blue Jackets: Latest Trade Details, Comments and Reaction

The Columbus Blue Jackets announced the completion of a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday for left winger Brandon Saad.     



In return, the Blackhawks received forwards Artem Anisimov, Marko Dano, Jeremy Morin, Corey Tropp and a fourth-round pick in the 2016 draft, according to the team's official release. 

Saad, 22, completed his second season in the NHL in which he played in 75 games or more in 2014-15. He recorded career highs with 23 goals, 29 assists and 52 points as a member of the Stanley Cup-winning Blackhawks. 

Saad is a restricted free agent and, according to SportsNet's Chris Johnston, was set to gain plenty of interest on July 1 when free agency begins. 



The Blackhawks' release also stated that the Blue Jackets received Alex Broadhurst and Michael Paliotta.

Anisimov recorded 27 points in 52 games last season as the most experienced of the bunch that the Blackhawks are acquiring. He made his NHL debut in 2008 with the New York Rangers before joining the Blue Jackets in 2012.
