Boston Remains At Eighth Seed, Roll Past Hurricanes 5-2

The game was close up until the third period where Boston started to light up Manny Legace and the Carolina Hurricanes, eventually scoring three goals in the third to finish off the Hurricanes and finish off their road trip with a 5-2 victory in North Carolina.

Boston's win could be credited highly to a great effort by goalie Tuukka Rask who was credited with 30 saves in the game. Boston also got a group effort in the offensive department with five goals scored by five different players.

Patrice Bergeron got the scoring started less than a minute into the game with a tip-in goal to get Boston on the board early.

Carolina's offense struggled all night but veteran Erik Cole lit the lamp both times for the Hurricanes scoring his seventh and eighth goal of the season before Boston finished pouring it on in the third period with goals by Michael Ryder and David Krejci.

One of the few bright spots for the Hurricanes was rookie Jamie McBain made his first career start for the Hurricanes, who played with seven defenseman in tonight's game. He received his first career NHL point in the second period, assisting on Erik Cole's powerplay goal.< ...
