During the Boston Bruins championship run of 2011, the entire North American continent gave witness to NHL records and franchise records being set, tied, or broken.
The Bruins became the first team in National Hockey League history to win a seven game playoff series without scoring a power play goal.
The Bruins also won their first playoff series after trailing two games to none. Both feats were accomplished against divisional rival, Montreal.
On May 6, 2011 the Bruins avenged the previous season's collapse by sweeping the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 1992.
Boston then defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in seven games and advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1990 to face the Vancouver Canucks.
After losing the first two matches in the finals by one goal, the Bruins then defeated the Canucks in Game 3 with four goals in the second and in the third periods, twice scoring short-handed goals.
