Blue Jackets vs. Stars Postponed After Rich Peverley Collapses on Bench

There was a scary incident during Monday night's game between the Dallas Stars and Columbus Blue Jackets, as Stars center Rich Peverley collapsed on the team's bench, forcing the game to be postponed midway through the first period.

Television broadcaster Jody Shelley, via reporter Lori Schmidt, described the scene:



Here's a look at what transpired:



Peverley, who spent 2:35 on the ice in the first period before coming out of the game, was carried down the tunnel without the use of a stretcher. 

As The Plain Dealer's Tom Reed noted, the game was then stopped with 13:37 remaining the first period, and the players were sent back to the dressing rooms:



A short time later, with the Blue Jackets leading 1-0, the game was officially postponed, with details regarding the makeup contest still unknown:



Fortunately, Dallas head coach Lindy Ruff, via broadcaster Daren Millard, provided some encouraging news before the team announced Peverley was taken to the hospital:
