Blackhawks Set Franchise Record with 12th Consecutive Win

The Chicago Blackhawks won a franchise-record 12th consecutive game Tuesday night, beating the Nashville Predators 4-1 to improve to 32-13-4 on the season, per the team's official twitter account.


Since the shootout was introduced to the NHL at the beginning of the 2005-06 season, only one other team has a winning streak of 12 or more games that didn't include any shootouts, with the 2009-10 Washington Capitals having won 13 consecutive games in either regulation or overtime, per ESPN Stats & Info.

The Blackhawks will face a serious challenge to match that record, as their next game (on Thursday night) will be a rematch of last season's Stanley Cup Final, with Chicago squaring off against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Tampa's Amalie Arena.

Speaking of which, the Blackhawks are just the sixth defending Stanley Cup champion to record a winning streak of 12 games or more the following season, with the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins owning the high mark of 17 straight wins, per Sportsnet Stats.
