Anaheim Ducks Report Card: First 21 Games of the Season Have Been Kind

Now that we are a little over a quarter of the way through the season, it's time to look back at how well each piece of Anaheim's roster has done, and which piece of the game needs the most polishing in order to return to the postseason.  Let's start with offense. Please keep in mind that I am a tough grader, simply because I know what this club is capable of.

 

Offense: B

You would think that with some big names such as Ryan Getzlaf, Teemu Selanne, Saku Koivu and Corey Perry on the roster that offensive production would be cake for the Ducks.  Unfortunately, that is not the case.  

Anaheim is ranked 23rd in the league with an average of 2.48 goals scored per game—a number that is just slightly lower than last year's 2.84, but there's one key difference. Last year, a 2.84 average was stable enough for seventh in the league, while this year, so many teams have been enjoying score-fest-like games, that the same 2.84 average would sit you in the 16th spot.  Yes, sometimes you just get unlucky and are facing an unusually hot goalie, but there are three little words that I find myself screaming at the televis ...
