An in Depth Look at the New Jersey Devils Offseason Needs

Though the Devils had a successful regular season, they fell short once again in the playoffs.

I am going to take a look at what the Devils could do to make themselves a successful playoff team once again.

FORWARDS

For most of the season the Devils forwards as a group played solid, when the big guns like Zach Parise and Patrik Elias were not scoring guys like Dainius Zubrus, Dean McAmmond and Brian Rolston stepped up which was good to see, however, the Devils forward were not as consistent as they need to be.

Needs: Line 2 centre, a scoring winger, and a depth forward

UFA possibilities: Matthew Lombardi, Ilya Kovalchuk, Eric Belanger, Adam Burish

In the system possibilities: Adam Henrique, Jacob Josefson, Mattias Tedenby

 

DEFENSEMAN

The Devils defenseman were steady all year long for the most part and they all gave a 100 percent effort every night, however when your best defenseman is Paul Martin and he did not contribute at all even when he was healthy there is a problem.

Needs: Top 6 defenseman, and an offensive defenseman
