Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals Get Ready for a Road Test

The Washington Capitals faced some adversity in December when they went on an eight game losing streak. After going winless from December 2nd through December 18th, they broke through with a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on December 19th. 

The team overcame that downswing and put together a streak of nine straight games where they scored at least one point. That streak ended on Wednesday night when they were shutout by the Southeast Division leading Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Capitals now face a road test. They will play the Vancouver Canucks at home on Friday, January 14th, the Ottawa Senators at home on Sunday, January 16th and then they will play 11 of their next 17 games on the road.

If the Capitals hope to end the season in first place in the Southeast Division they will need to improve their play on the road. Their current road record is 9-9-2, while they are much better at home in the Verizon Center where they are 15-4-5.
