Alex Ovechkin and Co. on Notice After Washington Capitals Drop Four in a Row

On Thursday December 9, the Washington Capitals lost to the Florida Panthers by a score of 3-0. The shutout loss marks the fourth loss in a row for the Capitals. Their record in the last 11 games stands at 4-7.

This is not the way that many envisioned the season going, at any point, for the Capitals. The team has some of the best young players in the NHL in Alex Ovechkin, Alexander Semin, Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom and a coach in Bruce Boudreau, who has led them to a record of 159-65-31.

After the game Boudreau did not temper his disappointment and called out his star players.

“Quite frankly, if your best players are your best players—I mean, we’ve been shut out three times in the last 11 games, which has never happened—you’re not going to have success,” Boudreau said. “We’ve had one goal in five of the least 11 games. You have to get production out of your best players and it is not happening right now.
