Alex Galchenyuk Injury: Updates on Canadiens Center’s Lower Body and Return

If the Montreal Canadiens want to advance past the first round of the playoffs, they'll have to do so without one of their most promising players.

The team announced that Alex Galchenyuk will miss at least the opening round of the postseason after picking up a lower-body injury:

Galchenyuk was hurt in the first period last night in a 3-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks. TSN's Ryan Rishaug reported that he was on crutches after the game:

The 20-year-old has had an immediate impact on the team since getting drafted third overall in 2012. He's amassed 31 points this year (13 goals, 18 assists) and given fans a ton of hope for what to expect in the future.

This is no doubt a tough blow for both Galchenyuk and the Canadiens. The player is missing out on vital postseason experience, while the team will be without his talents in the attack.
