Hockey has a long history and within that history there have always been superstars. Everyone is familiar with the more modern day superstars, from Maurice "Rocket" Richard to Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin, but few know much about the stars that came before them.

The following will feature the 50 best hockey players (in no particular order) who made their debut before Canada and the United States joined World War II.
