I was reading about how teams have ruined themselves by signing this player or that player that I thought who are the players that ruined themselves by signing with a team? After hours of thinking and realizing the cushion I was sitting on was in fact Brian Gionta I came up with a list:

Brett Clark went from Colorado to Tampa Bay. As such, the Avalanche threw him a huge retirement party.

Anton Volchenkov went from Ottawa to New Jersey. Almost anywhere is better than Ottawa, and New Jersey is just brilliant, but after the Kovalchuk fiasco his contract is now officially void.

Brett Lebda went from Detroit to Toronto! What was he thinking? Leaving a dynasty for a team that sucks and has no draft picks! Insane!

Sergei Gonchar signed with Ottawa. From a Stanley Cup contender to Ottawa, much worse than playing anywhere else. Or is it?

Alexandre Giroux signed with Edmonton! Yes, players actually leave Calgary to sign with Edmonton! Suter is in big trouble.Read more NHL news on BleacherReport.com
