The Art Ross Trophy is awarded to the NHL player that leads the league in total points at the end of the year.

The trophy was introduced to the league back in 1947 by Arthur Howie Ross who was the former general manager and head coach of the Boston Bruins.

The trophy was first awarded at the end of the 1947-48, season to Montreal Canadiens great Elmer Lach for leading the league with 61 points, and most recently awarded to the Vancouver Canucks centre Henrik Sedin for leading the league with 112 points.

The trophy has had the names such as Gordie Howe, Wayne Gretzky, and Mario Lemieux inscribed on it over the years.

Wayne Gretzky won the trophy a record ten times in his historic career.

Gordie Howe and Mario Lemieux both won it six times each.

Phil Esposito and Jaromir Jagr each won it five times.

Between 1980-2001, the trophy was only won by three players - Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Jaromir Jagr. The streak came to an end when Jarome Iginla won the trophy in 2002.
