A woman who accused Memphis Grizzlies star Zach Randolph of strangling her at a hotel in Los Angeles in March was reportedly lying.

According to a TMZ report Wednesday, the woman behind the allegations said she "made up" the incident after an argument with Randolph because “she was upset and decided to file a fabricated police report and ‘just wanted to get his money.’”

The woman told police in a March 31 interview she did have an argument with Randolph, but he did not touch her, per the report. The accuser said she and a friend were responsible for injuries visible on her back and neck in an effort to blame Randolph. TMZ added the woman signed a document that said she made the story up, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office threw out the case.

Memphis Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger addressed the original allegations, per Nick Moyle of the San Antonio Express-News: “It’s a non-story. Until something comes up that’s concrete, and I don’t think anything has, then that’s how we’ll deal with it.”
