Why Jameer Nelson Makes Me Angry

I don't hate Jameer Nelson.  It's not his fault.

It's just, that when I think of him, I feel like a Clippers fan. You know that feeling, where your team just made a mistake, and every time you watch a game, you are reminded of it?

Yeah. 

The 19th pick of the 2004 NBA Draft belonged to the Miami Heat.  

The Heat had drafted Caron Butler and Dwyane Wade in successive years prior to 2004. Pat Riley's drafting resume was getting good. He wanted another big bang.

We needed a point guard, and Jameer Nelson was available.  

Everyone had the Heat picking Nelson. Everyone, except Pat Riley.

His voice was heard loudest.

Riley made sure his bang arrived in Miami, in the form of Dorrell Wright.

Dorrell Wright came straight out of high school. And perhaps it wouldn't have killed him to stay a year or two in college.

The statistical difference between the two players is astounding.

Dorrell Wright has started 56 regular season games in his career. Jameer Nelson has had three seasons in which he started more games than that.
