One of the most revered dunkers of all time had to tip his hat to Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon for their display at the 2016 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.
Memphis Grizzlies guard and the storied 2000 dunk contest winner Vince Carter essentially raved to James Herbert of CBS Sports about the spectacle the pair of second-years put on in Toronto last weekend.
"It was entertaining," Carter told Herbert. "I was like, OK. There's been a couple where my daughter, who was young at the time, she's like 'Daddy, this is not good.' But that's what the fans want, they want to see entertainment. The ooh, ahh, that's what you want. And it was great."
Carter was so impressed by the showing he made a point to congratulate LaVine after the Grizzlies beat the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, telling the repeat champ "great show."
That he even watched the competition speaks to the quality of performances the Timberwolves and Orlando Magic sophomores put together, according to what the Toronto Raptors legend told Herbert.
