USA Basketball vs. Finland: Live Score and Highlights for FIBA World Cup 2014

August 30th, 2014 by Andy Bailey Leave a reply »
Team USA utterly dominated a physically outmatched Finland squad on the way to a 114-55 win on Tuesday in Bilbao, Spain.

Klay Thompson led the Americans in scoring with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including 4-of-7 from three-point range. Anthony Davis added 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting.

Perhaps more important from Davis was his defensive presence in the paint. Finnish players were clearly deterred from driving by the sight of Davis under the rim, as they typically reversed course as soon as they got past the perimeter line of defense.

Two other players reached double figures for USA. Derrick Rose had 12, while Rudy Gay added 10.

For Finland, it was USA's stifling defense that caused the most problems. They couldn't get into any rhythm as they turned the ball over 31 times and shot just 28 percent from the field.

Shawn Huff and Petteri Koponen led the way, scoring 12 points each.

USA's next matchup in Group C play comes Sunday against Turkey at 3:30 pm ET on ESPN. Check out Bleacher Report for live updates and analysis throughout the game.
