Ty Lawson Injury: Updates on Rockets Guard’s Ankle and Return

The Houston Rockets won't be able to count upon Ty Lawson for the time being, with the veteran point guard suffering from a sprained ankle, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

The point guard dealt with a hamstring injury before the 2014-15 NBA regular season began, but he was still able to play in the Denver Nuggets' opener and missed only seven games. It was a turbulent stint for Lawson in Denver, though, leading him to be traded to Houston this offseason.

The Western Conference shows no mercy due to its plethora of playoff-caliber teams. The Rockets' disappointing start has continued through December. Houston sits eighth with a 16-19 record, and some of the team's problems stem from Lawson's lackluster play. In 32 games, he's averaging 6.4 points and 4.3 assists.

Patrick Beverley will be thrust into heavier duty as the floor general for Houston's explosive, uptempo offense.
