Trey Burke to Wizards: Latest Trade Details, Comments and Reaction

The Utah Jazz have traded point guard Trey Burke to the Washington Wizards in exchange for a 2021 second-round pick on Sunday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical and David Aldridge of NBA.com.


Burke, 23, was a solid option coming off the bench for the Jazz during the 2015-16 season, averaging 10.6 points, 2.3 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 21.3 minutes per game. 

But the Jazz are loaded at point guard.

Raul Neto was the starter this past season—even though Burke played more minutes per game this year—and Dante Exum, who is coming off a knee injury that cost him the entire season, is the team's future at the position.

And once the Jazz acquired George Hill from the Indiana Pacers, Burke became expendable as the Jazz sought to address other needs. Hill and Exum are likely to see the majority of the minutes for the team at the point.

Burke has been consistent in his three-year career, averaging 12.8 points in both of his first two seasons while chipping in 5.7 assists in his rookie campaign and 4.3 assists last year. Less playing time has see ...
