Trey Burke Injury: Updates on Jazz Star’s Back and Return

Utah Jazz point guard Trey Burke suffered back spasms on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Burke's Injury Hinders Thin Jazz Guards  Burke averaged an identical 12.8 points during his first and second seasons with the Utah Jazz, but his production took a turn for the worst throughout the 2014-15 campaign. 

Despite his scoring average holding steady, Burke shot a woeful 36.8 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from three, while Dante Exum emerged as a key piece of the team's defense. 

However, Exum tore the ACL in his left knee during international play over the offseason. As a result, Burke was thrust into a bigger role after Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey told reporters the point guard "made more physical improvement over the course of the summer than any other player," per the Deseret News' Jody Genessy. 

Burke has averaged 11.6 points and 2.3 assists while shooting 45 percent from the field and 44 percent from three.
