Trade Rumor Analysis: Caron Butler to Chicago Bulls

It's tough not to pay too much attention to trade rumors, but there's no denying that they are intriguing. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the Wizards were looking to trade Caron Butler to the Bulls for Kirk Hinrich. There would have to be some contracts included in the deal to make the salary cap work as well. This rumor could have two underlying themes.

The Washington Wizards have given up on Gilbert Arenas and are searching for a replacement. The Chicago Bulls have not given up on their season and are looking for a revival.
From a basketball standpoint, this trade would make a lot of sense, unlike the recent Tracy McGrady trade rumor to the Philadelphia 76ers.

What would the Chicago Bulls get in Caron Butler?

The Bulls are not lacking in the "toughness" department. Guys like Derrick Rose , Joakim Noah , and Tyrus Thomas can hold their own against anyone. Adding Caron Butler would make them arguably the toughest team in the NBA.

Butler's presence would take attention away from Luol Deng, potentially helping Deng break out (although he has had a semi-breakout season already).
