Inciting Incident

In the summer of 1997, the Toronto Raptors selected a high school phenom in the first round, crowning of the next king—Tracy McGrady. The buzz was in the air. A season prior, Kobe Bryant electrified the fans as an 18 year-old rookie from Mount Zion Christian Academy and now all eyes were on the next phenom known as T-Mac. 

Is he going to be the "NEXT BIG THING"?

 

ACT 1

The Great Promise

Sonny Vaccaro, the sports market executive said, "Tracy is the one player who could have been better than Jordan if he wanted to."

Early on, nobody doubted Vaccaro's statement. McGrady, though a bench player his rookie season, dazzled fans with unparalleled athleticism and basketball skills. Everybody knew that this kid was going to be special one day.

McGrady, however, was overshadowed by his cousin Vince Carter on the Raptors. He would then move south to Florida, his hometown to make a name for himself.
