Toronto Raptors: Linas Kleiza Out for 9-12 Months

It was just announced on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, that Linas Kleiza is expected to be out for the whole season and possibly half of next season after undergoing knee surgery.

Kleiza had to get microfracture surgery, which was successful, to repair damaged cartilage in his right knee.

Kleiza was brought in to play the small forward which has been the Raptors weakest position by far. Consisting of Linas Kleiza, Sonny Weems and Julian Wright, the "3" position has been producing the least.

Kleiza has been the best at the position in terms of scoring capabilities and has shown his mid- and long-range shooting skills. He has a good three-point shot and does a nice job in the low-post against others who play his position.

I like Sonny Weems, but he is just to inconsistent. His vertical leap is a big plus to his game and it leads to an easy two points from dunking the ball, and it also leads to rebounds.

His defense and jumpshot are not the strong parts of his game, and are two things that he should upgrade in order to become a more all-around player.
