Top Takeaways from Adam Silver’s Board of Governors Press Conference

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver addressed media Tuesday at the Wynn Las Vegas following the Association's Board of Governors meeting to speak about the most pressing, salient issues in the game.

Most notable in Silver's summertime oration was the change potentially being made to how the NBA structures its playoff seeds, which Silver expects to be passed by the competition committee, according to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports. 

Under the new rules, the usual eight teams from each conference will qualify for the postseason. Instead of seeding the division champions highest in the playoff bracket, though, seeds will now be determined purely by teams' records, as previously reported by Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today. The revamped postseason format would go into effect next season, per the New York Post's Tim Bontemps.

Silver also indicated there are no plans for expansion right now, that he's hoping a resolution comes to pass for the Milwaukee Bucks' future arena plans and that he didn't have an update on Golden State's plan to open an arena in San Francisco for 2018, per Spears.
