Tony Wroten Injury: Updates on 76ers Star’s Knee and Return

Fans of the Philadelphia 76ers haven't had many reasons to get excited, so why wouldn't the team's best player go down with injury?

According to the 76ers, Tony Wroten will not play Tuesday night:

Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel dominated the discussion about the 76ers coming into the 2014-15 season. As the year played out, though, Wroten emerged as a potential building block for the franchise going forward.

The 21-year-old shooting guard doesn't look to have All-Star or All-NBA Team potential, but he could be a role player for Philly should it blossom into a contender.

Conversely, the Sixers actually performed better earlier in the year with Wroten out, per Tom Moore of Calkins Media:

Everybody's aware that the Sixers are tanking this season with an eye toward the future. The team's dead last in the standings with no discernible end in sight.

In short, Philadelphia's not going anywhere with or without Wroten. His injury will have little impact on the Sixers' fortunes in the short term.
