Cleveland.com's Chris Haynes relayed the update and reported Tristan Thompson will start in Mozgov's place.
Mozgov arrived in Cleveland last season and has had a sporadic but positive impact. Depending on the opponent, the 29-year-old may not see many minutes when the Cavs opt for a smaller, perimeter-oriented lineup.
But when Cleveland goes big, there's no denying Mozgov adds an extra dimension and gives the squad a competent starter who's more of a de facto role player. Thompson has been coming off the bench but consistently averaging more minutes than Mozgov in the frontcourt rotation.
A shoulder injury kept Mozgov sidelined toward the beginning of the 2015-16 campaign, when many other key Cavaliers such as Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert were also missing time.
