Timberwolves Technical Fouls Video: Watch NBA Referee Ken Mauer Lay Down the Law

Last night, the San Antonio Spurs faced the Minnesota Timberwolves that was actually pretty competitive for a while. However, in the third quarter, referee Ken Mauer made the headlines.

Usually, refs are only known by name if they do something crazy, and this looks to be no exception. With the Spurs ahead 68-62, Mauer, a Minnesota native and longtime veteran of the referee scene, called five technical fouls on the Timberwolves in a ten second span. How did such a thing happen?

The first was against Darko Milicic, who was not happy when he was called for his fourth foul. Almost immediately after, the same happened to Corey Brewer, on his second foul. Coach Kurt Rambis argued the calls, and was given two technicals as a result, meaning he was ejected from the game.

Having made all technical free throws, the Spurs were now up 72-62. After failing to get a rebound, Kevin Love is then called for a technical after arguing that a Tim Duncan foul was not called. Despite all the technical fouls, those were the only ones to be called in the game, and the Timberwolves were actually not in foul trouble; Milicic was the only one to hit the four-foul mark.
