Detroit Pistons assistant coach Tim Hardaway was suspended three games by the NBA Friday due to an offseason drunk driving charge.

Dan Feldman of Pro Basketball Talk reported the punishment for the former five-time NBA All-Star.

Hardaway pleaded no contest to violating Michigan's "super-drunk" driving law in September after he was pulled over in April and found to have a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit, according to John Wisely of the Detroit Free Press.

While Hardaway faced up to six months in jail for the violation, he was sentenced to 18 months of probation and 10 days of community service, per Wisely.

Hardaway has been an assistant with the Pistons since 2014, joining a staff assembled by head coach Stan Van Gundy, who was an assistant coach during Hardaway's playing days with the Miami Heat from 1995 through 2001.

Without Hardaway for the first three games of the 2016-17 campaign, assistants Bob Beyer, Malik Allen and Charles Klask figure to take on slightly greater roles to begin the season.
