Kevin Durant is on the cover of Sports Illustrated this week, with a giant quote behind him lamenting how he has been second his whole life.



Many in the sports world are talking about how cool it is:



My first reaction, though? Give me a break, Kevin.

Yeah, coming in second in the championship hunt last year probably sucked, but don't give me this spiel about how you've been second your whole life, or how being the second pick in the NBA draft was so terrible. I'd say it worked out pretty good for you, huh?

In fact, Durant seems to be skipping over quite a few things that he's been first in.

He finished first in the McDonald's All-American Game MVP voting (although tied with Chase Budinger, so take that as you will).



He was the first freshman to earn consensus National Player of the Year honors.



He finished first in Rookie of the Year voting.



He was the first player to win the H.O.R.S.E. competition at the All-Star Game. Hell, he was the only player to win.
