The Heat Is On: Bold Predictions For the 2010-11 Season

Within a month, the National Basketball Association will begin their 65th season with more interest and eyes watching the league after an offseason of transformation across the landscape.

Unless you’ve been under a rock this past offseason, the new “Big Three” of Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh will have the spotlight throughout the entire season as they are the pick to win the NBA Championship in June.

While most people pick the Heat, the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers are being overlooked to an extent by the media, even when they have a more cohesive team that has been together for several seasons.

Outside the cities of Miami and Los Angeles, the massive offseason saw a lot of top-tier free agents stay at home as Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, Atlanta’s Joe Johnson, and Celtics’ Paul Pierce and Ray Allen all re-signed this summer.

At the same time, Carlos Boozer and Amar’e Stoudemire chose to leave their teams and, respectively, sign with the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks, in a sign-and-trade deal.
