LeBron James announced he will be “taking his talents to South Beach” in the fall to become the cornerstone of the greatest trifecta in the history of the NBA. LBJ, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh on one team: the quintessential combination from which basketball dreams are made. The Heat became the sudden favorite to win the championship as quickly as LeBron tore off his wine and gold Cavaliers threads after Cleveland’s elimination in Game Six of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Reporting from a Cleveland bar following James’ announcement, ESPN’s Shelley Smith said that King James vaulted into second place behind Art Modell in the rankings for the city’s most hated sports figures. They were burning No. 23 in the streets after he confirmed his departure.

Even Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert spurned his former superstar, calling James’ hour-long special a “narcissistic, self-promotional build-up” and an act of “cowardly betrayal” in an open letter to the fans on the team Web site.
