Terrence Williams Traded to the Houston Rockets: Fantasy Impact

The New Jersey Nets have traded Terrence Williams to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Sasha Vujacic, a 2012 first-round pick from the Rockets and a 2011 first-round pick from the Lakers.

Joe Smith is headed to L.A. to provide some frontcourt insurance in case Andrew Bynum gets injured again.  More importantly, it provides the Lakers with some cap relief, exchanging Vujacic’s $5.5 million for Smith’s $1.4 million contract.

The Nets already had Golden State’s 2012 first-round draft pick. Add the picks just received from the Lakers and Rockets and they have multiple 2011 and 2012 draft picks to further entice Denver into dealing Carmelo Anthony.

 

Fantasy Impact

The only fantasy-relevant player in this deal is heading to Houston.  Terrence Williams recently produced two triple-doubles in three D-League games and has also showed flashes of fantasy relevancy at the NBA level.

Last year, the former Louisville Cardinal started 10 games averaging 10.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in 32 minutes. This year, he has been in coach Avery Johnson’s doghouse ...
