Terrence Jones Contract: Latest News, Rumors on Negotiations with Rockets

Power forward Terrence Jones has been a key contributor for the Houston Rockets since the team selected him in the first round of the 2012 NBA draft, but his future with the organization is now in question.

Report: Jones, Rockets Will Not Agree to Extension Before Deadline Thursday, Oct. 29 According to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports, both Jones and Donatas Motiejunas have decided to bypass contract extensions with the Rockets prior to the Nov. 2 deadline due to a lack of progress in negotiations.

The 23-year-old Jones is set to become a restricted free agent following the 2015-16 season, which means he can sign an offer sheet with any team, but the Rockets will have an opportunity to match it.

The former University of Kentucky standout has settled into a starting role over the past three seasons with his best campaign coming in 2013-14; he registered 12.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game while shooting better than 54 percent from the field.

While Jones was productive when he played last season, he took a step back as he played in just 33 games due primarily to a nerve issue in his leg.
